Let me start by saying I was skeptical about this dish at first. I mean, how necessary could a tiny glass bowl really be? But after using it in my shrimp tank, I'm officially converted.
The borosilicate glass feels incredibly sturdy - definitely not some flimsy plastic knockoff. When I first held it, I was surprised by the weight and quality. It's survived multiple cleanings and even an accidental drop (oops) without a scratch.
<What really won me over was seeing how much cleaner my tank stayed. My shrimp used to scatter food everywhere, but now about 90% stays contained in the dish. Maintenance is so much easier - just lift out the dish to clean rather than siphoning the entire substrate.
The transparency is genius. At first I worried it would look unnatural in the tank, but it practically disappears underwater while still letting me monitor food levels easily.
My only minor complaint? Some of my dumber shrimp take a while to figure out they need to climb into the dish. But once they get the hang of it, they swarm it at feeding time!
For anyone with messy eaters (shrimp, frogs, etc), this simple dish is absolutely worth the investment. It's one of those products you don't realize you need until you try it.
