Let me start by saying this: Ink's Second Chance is NOT your typical MC romance. It's raw, it's emotional, and it will leave you breathless. As someone who's followed the Infernal Sons series from the beginning, I can confidently say this is one of the most powerful installments yet.
The heroine Rachel is an absolute force of nature. Paralyzed from the waist down but with more strength than most able-bodied people I know, her journey through trauma and healing had me reaching for tissues multiple times. The way she handles unimaginable situations - rape, kidnapping, beatings - while maintaining her sass and spirit is nothing short of inspiring.
Now let's talk about Ink. Oh boy. This playboy finally meets his match in Rachel. Their chemistry crackles off the pages, especially when she calls him out on his BS (which happens frequently and hilariously). Their high school sweethearts-to-enemies-to-lovers arc feels authentic despite the extreme circumstances.
Warning: This book deals with VERY dark themes (check trigger warnings). Some scenes involving the Hernandez cartel are genuinely difficult to read - I had to put the book down a few times to collect myself. But Carol Dawn handles these heavy topics with surprising sensitivity while never sugarcoating reality.
The MC family dynamic continues to shine here. Their protective instincts toward Rachel (especially after what she endures) had me cheering out loud. And can we talk about that scene where Carlos' sister finally stands up to her family? CHILLS.
If I had one critique: Rachel does go through SO much trauma that at times it borders on overwhelming. While her resilience is admirable, I wouldn't have minded seeing her catch a break occasionally.
Bottom line? This book wrecked me in the best possible way. It's not just about motorcycle clubs and bad boys - it's about survival, found family, and love that refuses to die no matter what life throws at it. Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for Wolf's story!
