The YoLink Mini FlexFob promises convenience with its compact design and long-range LoRa technology, but my experience was far from smooth. The two customizable buttons are a great idea, allowing control over YoLink devices like lights and locks, but the pairing process was a nightmare.
Like other reviewers, I struggled with the QR code pairing. The white-on-black design made it nearly impossible to scan with my Android phone. After multiple failed attempts, I had to resort to taking a photo, inverting the colors on my computer, and then scanning that—just to get it paired. This is not the user-friendly experience I expected.
Once paired, the fob's range is impressive—I could control devices from across my large backyard without issues. The rechargeable battery is also a nice eco-friendly touch. However, the Alexa integration feels half-baked. The fob shows up as a motion sensor in Alexa, and long-press functionality isn’t supported, which limits its usefulness.
If you're outside the U.S., beware: the Alexa skill may not work at all, as one UK-based reviewer discovered. IFTTT compatibility is a plus, but it doesn’t make up for the frustrating setup and regional limitations.
Overall, the Mini FlexFob has potential with its portability and range, but until YoLink fixes the pairing issues and improves software support, I can’t recommend it wholeheartedly. Proceed with caution—especially if you're outside the U.S. or rely heavily on Alexa.
