Let me start by saying – wow, this SteelBook is GORGEOUS. The metallic sheen, the embossed Venom artwork that practically drips off the cover... it's a collector's dream. But is the actual content as good as the packaging?
The 4K transfer is stunning – those inky blacks make Venom's tendrils pop, and the HDR adds serious depth to nighttime scenes. That highway chase? You can practically feel the headlights blinding you. The Dolby Atmos track is equally impressive – when Venom roars, my subwoofer nearly jumped off the shelf!
Now about the movie itself: Tom Hardy is clearly having a blast playing both Eddie Brock and the voice of Venom. Their odd-couple dynamic delivers most of the film's laughs ("turd in the wind" still cracks me up). Action sequences are brutal but creative – that restaurant scene remains one of my favorite superhero moments.
BUT (and it's a big but) – that flimsy plastic case inside the SteelBook drives me nuts! It feels like it'll snap every time I swap discs. For a premium edition, this was a baffling cost-cutting choice.
Is it worth buying? If you're a Venom fanatic like me – absolutely. The movie's flawed but fun, and this is hands-down the best way to experience it at home. Just... maybe buy some replacement cases for those inner discs.
