Joy Fielding's 'Heartstopper' is a gripping novel that keeps you hooked from the first chapter. The suspense builds masterfully, and the characters feel so real you can't help but care about them. I found myself staying up way too late just to finish 'one more chapter.'
The small-town Florida setting adds an eerie charm, and the multiple points of view keep the story fresh. The killer's perspective is particularly chilling—Fielding nails the psychological depth without making it feel overdone.
That said, the book isn't perfect. With so many characters and subplots, it can get a bit confusing at times. I had to flip back a few pages to keep track of who was who. And while I appreciate Fielding's witty humor, some of the comedic moments felt oddly placed in a thriller about murders.
Still, 'Heartstopper' is a solid read—fast-paced, engaging, and packed with twists. If you're a fan of suspense with well-drawn characters (and don’t mind a few red herrings), this one’s worth picking up.
