As someone who's battled with noisy single-coil pickups for years, I was thrilled to discover this copper foil tape. The difference it made in my Telecaster was night and day - that annoying 60-cycle hum that used to plague my recordings is now completely gone.
The conductive adhesive is the real hero here. Unlike regular tapes where you'd need separate grounding, this stuff maintains conductivity even when overlapped. I shielded my entire control cavity by cutting small strips and overlapping them - no special tools needed beyond a pair of scissors.
One word of caution though - don't try soldering directly to the tape like I did initially. The copper layer is quite thin and melts easily. Instead, I found success by adding a small screw as an anchor point for my ground wire, just like another reviewer mentioned.
The roll contains way more than enough for multiple guitars (I've done three Strats and still have plenty left). It conforms beautifully to curved surfaces in the pickup cavities, though the edges can be sharp - I got a few paper cuts before learning to handle it carefully.
While it's not a magic solution for all noise issues (proper grounding is still essential), this tape transformed my cheap partscaster into a professional-sounding instrument. For under $10, it's probably the most cost-effective tone upgrade available.
