Let me tell you, slipping this German import into my US 4K player felt like cracking open a secret government file - risky but oh-so-rewarding. The disc played flawlessly (English default audio, no region-lock surprises), which is a relief since US buyers can't get Predator 2 as a standalone 4K release.
The visual upgrade hits like one of the Predator's plasma bolts - that opening drug war sequence in LA now shows every bead of sweat on Danny Glover's face and every neon reflection in puddles of blood. The HDR makes the Predator's thermal vision scenes absolutely sear your retinas in the best possible way.
Gary Busey's crazy eyes have never looked crazier in 4K, and you can actually count the individual beads on the Predator's necklace of human spines (if you're into that sort of thing). The included Blu-ray is no slouch either - perfect for when you want to watch but don't want to fully melt your home theater setup.
Two gripes though: The German packaging might confuse your friends when they browse your collection, and purists should note this isn't some fancy new remaster - it's the same UK disc transfer repackaged. But for fans who just want Predator 2 without buying entire trilogies? This imported predator is definitely prey worth stalking.
