As a kindergarten teacher, I'm always on the lookout for engaging science books that can make complex concepts accessible to little minds. Move It!: Motion, Forces and You has become my classroom favorite!
The illustrations are vibrant and eye-catching - my students literally crowd around during read-aloud time. What I love most is how it breaks down physics concepts into bite-sized pieces that 5-year-olds can actually understand.
We've tried several of the simple experiments suggested in the book. The 'push and pull' demonstration using toy cars was particularly successful - the kids were so excited they asked to do it three days in a row! The materials required are all classroom staples (balls, ramps, toy cars), which makes prep super easy.
My only minor complaint? Some activities require more space than our crowded classroom allows. We adapted by taking the lesson outdoors when possible.
After seeing how well this worked with my kindergartners, I've recommended it to all our primary grade teachers. It's rare to find a science book that's equally loved by Pre-K through 2nd grade students AND their teachers!
