After 4 months of daily use, this printer is a mixed bag. The refillable ink tanks are GENIUS—I’ve printed over 500 pages and haven’t needed a refill yet. That’s unheard of with cartridge printers! Setup took 20 minutes, and wireless printing from my iPhone works flawlessly (when it stays connected—more on that later).
The print quality? Crisp black text for documents, though color photos look slightly washed out compared to premium photo printers. Scanning is surprisingly sharp—I’ve digitized old family photos with great detail.
Now the frustrations: The Wi-Fi drops constantly. I literally keep the power cord loose so I can reboot it easily (HP’s ‘self-healing’ Wi-Fi is marketing fluff). Also, waking it from sleep mode requires a full restart—super annoying when printing recipes mid-cooking!
Speed is mediocre: A 10-page color document took 8 minutes. My neighbor’s laserjet would’ve finished in 2. And manual duplexing? In 2023? Come on, HP.
Verdict: Perfect for light home use if you value cheap ink over speed. Just buy direct from HP to avoid warranty issues mentioned in other reviews.
