This pocket-sized guide has completely changed how I shop for groceries. The first time I flipped through it in the supermarket aisle, I nearly dropped my basket - so many 'healthy' foods we've been buying contain shocking additives!
The GOOD: Incredibly convenient size (fits perfectly in my back pocket). The color-coded system makes it super easy to scan ingredients while shopping. It's helped me eliminate at least 15 questionable additives from my family's diet already.
The BAD: The cover design does look a bit outdated (that photoshopped woman needs to go!). Some entries could be more detailed - I had to Google a few additives for complete info. As another reviewer mentioned, it skips Red #4 which is disappointing.
REAL-LIFE USE: Last week I caught 'natural flavoring' in our favorite cereal that actually contains MSG derivatives. My husband thought I was paranoid until we both read the book's explanation - now he carries his own copy!
WISH LIST: Would love an app version with barcode scanner functionality. More specific brand name warnings would be helpful too.
Despite minor flaws, this is hands-down the most useful $10 I've spent on health products. It stays permanently in my shopping bag - that wrinkled, food-stained appearance proves how often I use it!
