Let me start by saying these ceramic coral frag plugs look absolutely pristine when you first open the package. The pure white color gives them a clean, professional appearance that would make any reef tank look sharp.
Where these plugs shine is their smooth ceramic surface. I found it creates a beautiful contrast against colorful corals, and the material is definitely safe for aquarium use - no water quality issues observed during my 3-month testing period.
However, the short stem length (only 0.39 inches) became a recurring headache. In my high-flow system, I constantly found frags toppled over or completely dislodged - and no, it wasn't my snails' doing! The plugs simply don't have enough 'grip' in the rockwork.
The thin base presents another challenge. They won't fit standard frag plug holders, which limits placement options. While this makes them easier to stick directly into live rock, the trade-off in stability isn't worth it for most applications.
Gluing corals takes extra patience too. The ultra-smooth surface means you'll need to hold fragments in place longer before the glue sets properly. Not ideal when you're working with delicate specimens.
Would I recommend these? Only if you specifically need low-profile plugs for certain applications. For general reefkeeping purposes, I'd suggest looking for plugs with longer stems and slightly rougher surfaces for better adhesion.
