Let me start by saying I was skeptical about SAMPLITUDE Music Studio 2023 at first. Having used other DAWs like Cakewalk and Reaper, I expected this to be another watered-down version of professional software. But boy, was I wrong!
The installation process was a bit nostalgic - yes, it comes on DVD (who uses those anymore?), but thankfully there's a download option too. Once installed, the interface felt surprisingly intuitive. Within minutes, I was recording guitar tracks and experimenting with the included VST plugins.
What really blew me away were the professional-grade features packed into this affordable package. The vocal tuning tool (Vocal Tune 2) saved my terrible singing during a late-night recording session. The MIDI support worked flawlessly with my electronic drum kit - something even some premium DAWs struggle with.
The workflow is where SAMPLITUDE shines for music creation. Laying down tracks feels natural, and the object-based approach makes rearranging sections a breeze. However, I did notice mastering tools aren't as robust as some competitors - they're functional but feel like an afterthought.
For home studio musicians like myself who record guitars and occasional vocals, this software is more than capable. The included sound pools provide great starting points when inspiration runs dry. And at this price point? It's hard to find better value in music production software today.
