Let me start by saying the ULTRALOQ Bolt is one sleek-looking smart lock. The fingerprint recognition feels futuristic when it works - just press your thumb and voila, the door unlocks. No more fumbling for keys in the rain! I particularly love how it integrates with Apple HomeKit, allowing me to unlock my front door using Siri when my hands are full of groceries.
The installation was surprisingly easy - just a screwdriver and about 10 minutes of my time. The auto-lock feature gives me peace of mind knowing my door will lock itself if I forget, and being able to create temporary access codes for guests is incredibly convenient.
However... (and this is a big however) the WiFi connectivity issues are real. Like many other reviewers, I experienced constant disconnections despite having strong signal strength. It's frustrating when you're trying to remotely check if you locked the door or share access with someone, only to find the lock offline yet again.
The fingerprint scanner can be finicky too - it works great about 80% of the time, but that other 20% when you're standing outside in bad weather trying multiple times to get it to recognize your print? Not fun. Also noticed it struggles more in cold weather.
Battery life is decent (about a year with regular use), but when those AA batteries start running low, you'll know because the lock becomes even more temperamental than usual.
Customer service deserves praise though - they were responsive when I reached out about connectivity issues and actually helped identify an underlying ISP problem that was contributing to my woes.
Would I recommend this? If you absolutely need HomeKit integration and fingerprint access, yes - with caveats. But if reliable remote access is your top priority, you might want to look at more stable alternatives until ULTRALOQ fixes these persistent WiFi issues.
