Let me start by saying, the TP-Link RE315 WiFi extender has been a game-changer for my home network. I was tired of buffering videos and dropped Zoom calls in my bedroom, which was just far enough from my router to be problematic. This little device solved those issues almost instantly.
The setup process was ridiculously easy. I used the TP-Link Tether app and had it up and running in about 10 minutes. The app walks you through everything step-by-step, and even lets you control settings like turning off those bright LEDs (which I definitely appreciate at night).
Performance-wise, it's delivered exactly what I needed. My internet speed tests show consistent connections throughout my 1,200 sq ft apartment now. Streaming 1080p videos in previously dead zones works perfectly, and I've noticed significantly fewer dropped connections when moving around with my phone.
The dual-band support is great - I can connect devices that need speed to the 5GHz band while keeping smart home gadgets on the more stable 2.4GHz band. The Ethernet port has been super useful too - I connected my work computer directly to it for more reliable video calls.
There are a couple minor drawbacks worth mentioning. The range isn't quite as expansive as advertised - while it covers my entire apartment well, the signal drops off quickly when I go out to my balcony. Also, if you don't have a OneMesh compatible router (I don't), you'll need to manually switch between networks when moving around.
For the price though (I paid about $30), this is an absolute steal compared to upgrading to a mesh system. It's compact, easy to use, and does exactly what it promises - eliminates WiFi dead zones without breaking the bank.
