I recently got my hands on the YNF Smart Plugs (4-pack) to automate some of my home appliances. Here's my honest take after using them for a while.
The setup was surprisingly quick – under two minutes per plug via the Smart Life app. The app itself is intuitive, letting me control devices remotely and set timers effortlessly. No more panicking about leaving the iron on!
Voice control with Alexa worked... eventually. One plug connected immediately, while others took multiple attempts. Frustrating for a tech-savvy person like me. When it works, though, asking Alexa to turn off lights feels futuristic.
My biggest gripe? The bulky design completely blocks adjacent outlets. In my kitchen where outlet space is precious, this became a real problem. Square-shaped competitors allow dual usage – these don't.
The connection stability has been hit-or-miss. One plug stays reliably connected while others randomly disconnect from WiFi. For smart home devices, reliability is crucial, and these sometimes miss the mark.
At this price point, they're decent for basic automation if you don't mind the outlet space issue and occasional connectivity headaches. But if reliability is your priority, you might want to invest in a higher-end brand.
