Let me start by saying I had high hopes for the ULXIOM Titanium HE 90240 heating elements. The product description boasts impressive compatibility with multiple brands and promises upgraded titanium alloy construction. On paper, this seemed like a great replacement option for my Rheem water heater.
The installation process went smoothly enough - the elements fit perfectly into my unit just as advertised. However, my optimism quickly faded when I noticed water leaking from both elements within just 24 hours of use. Upon closer inspection, I found the plastic caps on both elements were cracked.
What followed was downright scary. One of the elements actually caught fire while in use! I'm lucky to have caught it before it could spread. The manufacturer claims these elements are made from high-quality titanium alloy that can withstand extreme temperatures, but my experience suggests serious quality control issues.
The worst part? When I requested replacements through Amazon, the second set had identical problems right out of the box. Now I'm stuck in return limbo while needing hot water for my household.
While the product specs sound impressive and the price point is attractive, I simply cannot recommend these heating elements based on my dangerous experience. The potential risk to your home isn't worth any cost savings. My advice? Spend a little more for a reputable brand with better quality control.
