Let me start by saying this little gadget has been a game-changer for my home security. The installation was ridiculously easy – just peel the adhesive sticker, stick it on, and you're done. No drilling, no complicated wiring. I slapped mine on my front door in under 5 minutes.
The real-time notifications are what sold me. Whether I'm at work or just in another room, my phone buzzes instantly when someone opens the door. It's saved me from several "Did I leave the door unlocked?" anxiety moments. The app interface is surprisingly clean and intuitive, which isn't always the case with smart home devices.
Battery life has been impressive – I'm going on 8 months with the included batteries still going strong. The low battery warning through the app is a nice touch that prevents unexpected failures.
Now for the not-so-great parts: The included adhesive tape didn't last more than a month for me. I ended up using stronger double-sided tape which solved the problem completely. Also, while Alexa integration works well after setup, getting it connected initially required some app-hopping that wasn't exactly seamless.
The biggest limitation is definitely the lack of Home Assistant compatibility out of the box. Tech-savvy users might be able to flash new firmware (if you're comfortable with soldering), but that's beyond most people's skill level.
For under $20 though? This sensor delivers incredible value. It's not perfect, but it provides reliable basic security monitoring without needing a hub or subscription fees. If you want simple door/window alerts without breaking the bank, this is absolutely worth considering – just keep some extra tape handy!
