Let me start by saying this leather case is a game-changer for Apple Pencil owners. The moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the buttery soft genuine leather that feels premium to the touch. It's exactly like Apple's previous leather MagSafe accessories before they switched materials.

The case fits both 1st and 2nd gen pencils perfectly in terms of width, though there's a slight length difference. My Pencil 2 sits comfortably with about 5mm extra space at the top - not ideal but not a dealbreaker either. The magnetic closure is strong enough that I've never worried about my pencil falling out, even when tossing it in my backpack.

What really won me over was discovering how well it protects against scratches. After two months of daily use (including several flights and coffee shop sessions), my pencil still looks brand new. The interior felt lining is a thoughtful touch that prevents any micro-scratches.

However, I do wish Apple made a version specifically sized for the Pencil 2. While functional, that extra space at the top does feel like a compromise. Also worth noting - if you're particular about packaging, mine arrived with slightly dented corners which was disappointing for an Apple product.

At its current price point, this case offers solid value. It's become my go-to solution for carrying my pencil separately from my iPad (especially useful during travel). Just don't expect absolute perfection if you're using it with a Pencil 2.
