Let me start by saying, this isn't your average flimsy phone mount. The Bracketron HD Phone Dock PRO feels premium the moment you hold it - that solid aluminum construction gives it a heft that screams durability.
I've been using it daily in my SUV for navigation, and the metal clamp holds my phone (even during bumpy rides) like it's welded in place. No wobbles, no slips - just rock-solid stability. The adjustable arm lets me position my phone at the perfect viewing angle too.
But here's where things get sticky (pun intended). That super-strong suction cup? It's a double-edged sword. When fresh out the box, it adheres so fiercely to glass that repositioning becomes impossible without risking damage. I learned this the hard way when I needed to adjust its position slightly.
The bigger issue emerges over time. After about 6 weeks of use through varying temperatures, I noticed the suction weakening. One morning I found my $800 phone dangling by its charging cable - the mount had fallen overnight despite proper installation. Following other users' advice, I tried cleaning both surfaces with alcohol, but the problem persisted.
Customer service appears non-existent based on multiple reports (including my own unanswered query). For a $70 product, this is unacceptable. The mount itself is brilliantly designed - if only they'd improve the suction mechanism and support.
Would I recommend it? If you drive smooth roads daily and don't mind potentially replacing suction cups periodically, yes - it's superior to plastic mounts. But for rough terrain or long-term reliability seekers, look elsewhere until Bracketron addresses these flaws.
