After using the Blink Video Doorbell for several months, I can confidently say it's a great entry-level smart doorbell that delivers on its core promises while having some understandable limitations given its price point.
The 1080p HD video quality is surprisingly crisp during daytime, and the infrared night vision works better than expected - I could clearly see delivery people's faces at 2 AM when they dropped off late-night packages. The two-way audio is clear enough for quick conversations, though there's a slight delay that takes some getting used to.
Installation was a breeze - I went completely wire-free and had it mounted in under 15 minutes. The included AA lithium batteries lasted me about 5 months with moderate usage (about 10-15 motion alerts daily), which isn't quite the advertised 2 years but still reasonable. Pro tip: The motion detection works best when you customize the zones to avoid unnecessary alerts from passing cars or swaying trees.
My biggest gripe is definitely the cloud storage situation. After the free 30-day trial, you lose access to some useful features unless you pay for a subscription. However, I found a decent workaround by using the Sync Module with a USB drive for local storage of shorter clips.
The Alexa integration has been flawless in my experience - being able to check my doorbell feed on Echo Show devices around the house adds tremendous value. Setting up Alexa routines for faster motion alerts (as mentioned in one review) genuinely improved my experience.
For under $100, this doorbell delivers excellent value if you're willing to accept its limitations. It won't replace high-end models with continuous recording or facial recognition, but as an affordable first smart doorbell or secondary camera, it performs admirably well.
