Let me start by saying this stand speaker definitely adds a unique, almost sci-fi vibe to my Echo Dot. The white/blue color combo gives it a fresh look, and the rotating legs let me position it in fun angles on my desk. It's like having a mini robot companion for my smart speaker!
The sound projection is noticeably better when placed on this stand compared to just sitting flat on a surface. Music feels more directed and full-bodied. I've used it in my kitchen while cooking and in my home office - it performs well in both spaces.
However, assembly was frustrating. Like other reviewers mentioned, there are no clear instructions included. I spent about 20 minutes figuring out how all the pieces fit together (there are more parts than you'd expect!). The blue accent pieces are particularly tricky to snap into place securely.
My biggest complaint is the power cord routing. With my Echo Dot 4th gen, I had to leave out one of the blue plugs to thread the cord through properly. This leaves an awkward gap in the design. The stand also slightly obscures the clock display depending on how you angle it.
The plastic feels cheaper than expected - not flimsy exactly, but not premium either. At its current price point (around $20), I'd expect better build quality and clearer assembly instructions.
Would I recommend it? If you're looking for a fun way to display your smart speaker and don't mind some DIY assembly quirks, yes. But if you want something plug-and-play with premium materials, keep looking.
