Let me start by saying I was skeptical at first. A glass dish for shrimp food? Really? But after using the SunGrow Glass Feeding Dish for a month, I'm completely converted.
The borosilicate glass construction is what first impressed me. Unlike cheap plastic alternatives, this feels substantial in hand - like lab equipment (which makes sense since it's the same material used in laboratories). I've accidentally knocked it against my aquarium glass several times while cleaning, and zero cracks or chips.
Functionality is where this little dish shines. My cherry shrimp used to scatter food everywhere, creating a mess that would rot in my substrate. Now? About 90% of the food stays contained in this 2.5" diameter dish. Maintenance time has literally been cut in half - I just lift out the dish, rinse it, and pop it back in.
I particularly love how it becomes nearly invisible underwater. The transparency lets me monitor food levels at a glance, and my tank looks more natural without some obvious feeding apparatus.
Two minor drawbacks: The 0.5" depth means tiny shrimp sometimes need help climbing in (I solved this by adding a small piece of cholla wood as a ramp). Also, while packaging was excellent for mine, one reviewer mentioned receiving a cracked dish - so inspect carefully upon arrival.
Bonus discovery: It works amazingly for my betta fish's pellets too! The wide surface prevents food from getting lost in plants.
At $10-15 depending on retailer, this isn't the cheapest option out there - but considering how much money I've saved on uneaten/rotting food and reduced cleaning time, it's paid for itself already. Highly recommended for shrimp keepers, nano tank owners, or anyone with small aquatic pets.
