Let me start by saying this G1 Android TV box is a serious upgrade from my old Fire Stick. The Amlogic S905X4-J chipset makes everything snappy – apps launch instantly, and I've experienced zero buffering even when streaming 4K HDR content.
The setup was ridiculously easy. Plugged in the HDMI, connected to my Wi-Fi 6 network (which this box supports!), and within minutes I was exploring the full Google Play Store. Being Google-certified means you get all the official apps – a huge plus over some sketchy Android boxes I've tried before.
Picture quality blew me away. Watching The Mandalorian in Dolby Vision HDR on Disney+ looked incredible – colors popped, blacks were deep, and the 60fps support made action scenes buttery smooth. The HDR10+ support is legit too.
Google Assistant integration works perfectly. I use voice commands daily to search for shows, control my smart lights, or check the weather without reaching for the remote. The built-in Chromecast is super convenient when I want to cast from my phone.
Now for the not-so-perfect parts: Like another reviewer mentioned, Hulu has issues on Android TV (not this box's fault specifically). Also, while 32GB storage is decent, heavy app users might want more. The plastic casing feels a bit cheap compared to premium streaming devices.
Bottom line? If you want a powerful, customizable streaming box that outperforms most sticks at this price point, the G1 delivers big time. Just be aware of those minor Android TV quirks.
