They're surprisingly interactive for tiny crustaceans, eagerly grabbing food from tweezers like aquatic puppies. Their rapid growth (about 1cm in the first week) makes them perfect for classroom life cycle lessons.

The Reality Check: Be prepared for some Darwinism in action. The cannibalism is real (not ideal for very sensitive kids). Hatch rates vary wildly – I got about 6 survivors from supposedly 65 eggs. The included container works initially but you'll need to upgrade as they grow.

Pro Tips: Use spring water or dechlorinated tap water (distilled is a no-go). Add the included limestone if decorating with leaves. Don't panic when they molt – those aren't dead triops, just shed exoskeletons!

While imperfect, this kit offers a uniquely hands-on biology lesson. Just manage expectations – these aren't long-term pets (lifespan ~1-3 months), but wonderful for teaching responsibility and natural cycles.
