Let me start by saying, these shoes are built like tanks for your feet. The Cascadia 18 has been my go-to for everything from rocky trail runs to muddy hikes, and they've handled it all with impressive grace.
The DNA LOFT v2 cushioning is a dream – it's like walking on clouds even when you're scrambling over jagged terrain. I've put these through 10-mile trail runs, and my feet still felt fresh at the end. The TrailTack outsole grips like a gecko's feet, whether I'm on wet rocks or loose gravel.
What really surprised me was how well the TPU mudguard works. After sloshing through muddy trails, my socks were still clean and dry. The breathable mesh upper keeps things cool without sacrificing durability – no tears even after bushwhacking through thick brush.
Now, they do run a bit narrow in the forefoot (I have wider feet), so I'd recommend sizing up if you're between sizes. They were stiff out of the box too – took about 20 miles of wear to really break in. But once they did? Pure magic.
At $150, they're an investment, but considering they've replaced both my trail runners AND hiking boots? Worth every penny. Just maybe check for glue marks on your pair before keeping them – seems some quality control issues slipped through.
