Let me start by saying this pump has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. When it works, it's fantastic - but getting there can be a challenge.
The good first: Once properly installed, this circulator does its job well. I've noticed significantly faster hot water delivery to my upstairs bathroom (about 30 seconds faster). The three-speed settings are genuinely useful for different household needs.
Installation was... an adventure. Like some reviewers, I had threading issues. The included adapters didn't fit my water heater's non-tapered pipes - very frustrating! After multiple hardware store trips and some creative plumbing work, I got it connected.
Performance-wise, when running, it's impressively quiet (on lower speeds). The cast iron body feels durable, though the paint on the threads was problematic - had to wire brush it off like another reviewer mentioned.
Now the concerning part: Mine did get worryingly hot during initial use. Following advice from other users, I made sure to properly prime the system and bleed air from the line using that giant side screw (great feature!). This helped stabilize temperatures.
The packaging issue others reported seems hit-or-miss - mine arrived complete but I can imagine the frustration of receiving empty boxes!
Would I recommend it? With caveats. If you're handy with plumbing modifications and patient with setup quirks, it's a decent value circulator. But if you want plug-and-play simplicity, look elsewhere.
