Let me start by saying, the Garmin epix Gen 2 is a game-changer for fitness enthusiasts. The 1.3” AMOLED display is absolutely stunning - vibrant colors, crisp details, and perfectly visible even under direct sunlight. Coming from an Apple Watch Ultra, I was blown away by the multi-week battery life (16 days in smartwatch mode!). No more daily charging nightmares.
The fitness tracking is where this watch truly shines. Whether I'm running a marathon or hitting the slopes with preloaded SkiView maps, the multi-band GNSS provides pinpoint accuracy. The built-in sports apps and Garmin Coach training plans have taken my workouts to the next level. That said, if you're just a casual exerciser, some advanced metrics like training readiness might be overkill.
I adore the premium titanium build (especially in white), though the bezel does scratch easier than I'd like. The touchscreen works great during daily use, but smartly disables during activities - a thoughtful feature that prevents accidental inputs mid-workout.
While notification handling isn't as seamless as Apple Watch, the trade-off for superior battery life and fitness features is worth it. Sleep tracking is incredibly detailed, and having all my cycling data sync with my Garmin Edge devices creates a perfect ecosystem.
At full price it's definitely an investment, but if you catch it on sale (like I did at $399!), it's hands-down the best sports smartwatch for serious athletes who want luxury features without compromising on performance.
