Let me start by saying this router is built like a tank. The metal casing gives it an industrial feel that screams durability. I've been using it for about a month now, both at home and during some road trips, and here's my honest take.
The setup process wasn't exactly plug-and-play. Like several reviewers mentioned, you'll need to be somewhat tech-savvy or willing to watch some YouTube tutorials (shoutout to Peter Carcione's helpful videos). The interface feels a bit clunky with its 'Chinglish' translations, but once you get past that initial hurdle, it performs remarkably well.
Signal strength is where this router really shines - especially when paired with external antennas. I tested it both with the included antennas and with aftermarket MIMO antennas (highly recommend upgrading). The difference was night and day - went from spotty indoor coverage to consistent speeds even when placed in my basement.
I'm using a T-Mobile SIM card and consistently get 30-40 Mbps download speeds after the firmware update. It handles multiple devices well - we've had phones, tablets, and streaming devices connected simultaneously without noticeable lag. Netflix streams in HD without buffering, which was a pleasant surprise.
The watchdog feature works as advertised - I intentionally unplugged the network cable several times, and the router recovered automatically within minutes each time. This reliability makes it great for critical applications like security cameras.
Now for the not-so-great parts: The LED lights are painfully bright (I ended up putting tape over them). The software interface could definitely use an English-language overhaul. And as others noted, there's no band locking feature, which can be frustrating in areas with multiple LTE bands.
Security is another concern - changing default passwords isn't as straightforward as it should be. I'd recommend placing this behind another router if security is paramount for your setup.
For RV travelers or anyone needing reliable internet in remote locations, this router delivers excellent value once properly configured. Just be prepared for some initial setup headaches and consider investing in better antennas.
