Let me start by saying the HiBy R6III is an absolute beast when it comes to sound quality. The dual Class A/AB amp setup delivers crisp, powerful audio that makes my high-impedance IEMs sing. The first time I played a DSD512 track, the level of detail blew me away - it's like hearing my favorite songs for the first time.
The Android 12 OS is surprisingly snappy for a DAP. Streaming Tidal and Qobuz is buttery smooth with zero lag. I've loaded mine with a 1TB microSD card (yes, it supports up to 2TB!) and the Hiby music app handles my massive FLAC library without breaking a sweat.
Build quality is premium - the glass sandwich design looks gorgeous but does make me nervous about drops (thank goodness for the included case). The volume wheel has perfect resistance and the 5" screen gets bright enough for outdoor use.
Now for some real-talk cons: The battery isn't user-replaceable which worries me long-term. Class A mode drains power fast and turns the player into a pocket warmer. And while Android Auto doesn't work (big bummer for car use), Bluetooth LDAC performance is stellar with my Sony WH-1000XM4.
The MSEB EQ system is where this player truly shines. After tweaking the 'Sound Field' plugin, I achieved a holographic soundstage that makes my Sennheiser HD650s sound like studio monitors. It's addictive!
At its price point, nothing touches the R6III's combination of power, features, and sound quality. Just be prepared for some Android quirks - this isn't as polished as an iPhone but delivers far superior audio performance.
