Let me start by saying the Galaxy A16 5G is a pretty decent mid-range phone, especially if you're looking for something that won't break the bank but still delivers on most fronts.
The first thing you'll notice is that gorgeous 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display. Seriously, colors pop and blacks are deep - it's hard to believe this isn't a flagship screen. The 90Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through social media buttery smooth too.
Performance-wise, it handles everyday tasks like browsing, messaging and light gaming just fine. I did notice some lag when pulling down the notification shade with two fingers though - not a dealbreaker, but noticeable coming from more expensive phones.
The battery life is where this phone really shines. That 5000mAh battery easily lasts me through a full day of heavy use. But here's the big problem - the included "25W" charger is completely fake! It took nearly 4 hours to charge from 50%, while my old 10W charger did it in under an hour.
The camera setup is decent for the price point. The 50MP main shooter takes surprisingly good photos in daylight, though low-light performance could be better. The ultrawide and macro cameras feel more like afterthoughts though.
One major complaint - WiFi calling doesn't seem to work properly on some carriers (like PureTalk USA). This was a dealbreaker for one user who specifically bought it for this feature.
Overall, it's a good phone let down by that fake charger issue. If you can look past that (and maybe buy your own fast charger), you're getting great battery life, a beautiful display and solid performance at an affordable price.
