Let me start by saying this 3D printing smoothing tool kit is a mixed bag. The idea is fantastic—a dedicated tool for smoothing, repairing, and modifying 3D prints—but execution has some quirks.
The Good: The fast heating is legit. That 80W ceramic core gets hot quickly, and the multiple brass tips (especially the scoop) are surprisingly effective for fusing PLA seams or smoothing rough layers. I used it to clean up a poorly adhered Benchy hull, and it worked like a heat-assisted spatula. The sanding sticks? Basic but functional for final touches.
The Annoying: That stand is a disaster. Mine wobbled like a Jenga tower—threads were either misaligned or the nuts were mismatched. Nearly tipped over mid-use (cue panic). Tip changes aren’t as easy as advertised either; expect some wrestling with the adapter when swapping heads.
Safety Side-Eye: No certifications anywhere. For a tool that hits 400°F+, that’s sketchy. The Fahrenheit-only display is irritating when filament specs use Celsius, and my infrared thermometer confirmed temps run cooler than displayed (by ~150°F!). Not ideal for precision work.
Verdict: It *works*—I smoothed three PETG prints decently—but feels like a repurposed soldering iron with identity issues. Great for occasional fixes if you babysit the stand, but pros should invest in safer, calibrated gear.
