After using the Airthings 2960 View Plus for several months, I can confidently say it's one of the most comprehensive air quality monitors I've ever tested. The sleek, battery-powered design blends seamlessly into any room while constantly tracking radon, PM2.5, CO2, VOCs, humidity, temperature and pressure.
The eInk display is brilliant - literally zero glare and perfectly readable in any lighting. I love how waving my hand triggers a quick air quality status check (green=good, red=danger). Though I wish it had backlighting for nighttime checks.
Where this device truly shines is radon detection. Like many users, I was shocked to discover dangerous radon levels (4.8 pCi/L) in my basement office. The historical graphs showed exactly when levels spiked, helping me identify poor ventilation as the culprit. After installing a mitigation system, watching those numbers plummet to safe levels was incredibly satisfying.
The app experience is mostly excellent with beautiful trend charts and customizable alerts. However, I agree with other reviewers about some quirks: CO2 warnings during workouts get annoying (you can't disable specific alerts), and battery life could be better (~3 months with standard AAs). Pro tip: Use lithium batteries for longer life.
My favorite unexpected benefit? Discovering how everyday activities affect air quality. Cooking sends VOC readings soaring (that stir-fry wasn't just spicy - it was polluting!). Even 'fresh' cleaning products create concerning VOC spikes. This visibility has completely changed how I ventilate my home.
While expensive ($300 range), the peace of mind is priceless - especially knowing it could prevent long-term health issues from invisible threats like radon. Just be sure to properly register for the full 5-year warranty!
