This book had me hooked from the very first page! The story follows Liberty, a woman trapped in an abusive marriage, who flees to her grandmother's home only to find herself entangled in a murder mystery. The way the author weaves together themes of domestic abuse, personal growth, and crime investigation is simply masterful.
What I loved most was Liberty's character development. She starts as this broken woman but gradually finds her strength while investigating Father Sam's suspicious death. The scenes where she works with Jack the PI had me on the edge of my seat - their chemistry is electric!
The multiple subplots (the disabled child, the unfinished manuscript, the potential romance) could have been overwhelming, but the author manages to balance them beautifully. My only complaint? That cliffhanger ending! I'm already desperate for the sequel.
Perfect for readers who enjoy complex female protagonists and mysteries with emotional depth. Just be warned - you'll lose sleep because you won't be able to put it down!
