Let me start by saying the OLED screen is GORGEOUS. Playing 'Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom' feels like seeing Hyrule for the first time - colors pop, blacks are deep, and that 7-inch display makes handheld mode actually enjoyable for adult-sized hands. After owning the original Switch, this upgrade feels substantial.
The kickstand is a game-changer for tabletop mode. No more flimsy plastic flap! I've used it at coffee shops and during flights - stays sturdy even on uneven surfaces. The enhanced speakers make a noticeable difference too; 'Mario Kart' explosions actually have some bass now.
Battery life surprised me. Got about 5.5 hours playing 'Hades' at medium brightness - way better than my launch model Switch that would die in 2.5 hours. The dock's ethernet port is clutch for Smash Bros online matches - saw significantly less lag compared to WiFi.
Now the not-so-great: The included dock still doesn't come with a charger (seriously Nintendo?). Joy-Con drift remains an issue - my left stick started acting up after 3 weeks. And while the screen is beautiful, it's still only 720p in handheld mode - noticeable when switching from my phone's display.
Who should buy this? Handheld gamers will love it most. TV-only players might not justify the upgrade. If you're new to Switch or have an old model (pre-2019), absolutely go OLED. That screen alone makes portable gaming so much more immersive.
