Let me start by saying that 'In Five Years' was nothing like what I expected. I picked it up thinking it would be a light romance, but boy, was I wrong. This book took me on an emotional journey that left me thinking about it for days after finishing.
The story follows Dannie, a successful lawyer who has her life perfectly planned out. But when she has a vivid dream about her life five years in the future - with a different man in a different apartment - everything gets turned upside down. What I loved most was how the author played with my expectations. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, she threw in twists that completely surprised me.
One of the most powerful aspects for me was the portrayal of female friendship between Dannie and Bella. Their relationship felt so real and raw - the kind of deep, unconditional love that's rarely shown in books. There were moments (especially towards the end) where I found myself reaching for tissues without even realizing I'd started crying.
While some parts were predictable, others caught me completely off guard. That ending! Without giving spoilers, let's just say it wasn't the happy-ever-after I anticipated, but it felt more honest and meaningful because of that.
This isn't just another romance novel - it's a thoughtful exploration of love in all its forms (romantic, platonic), destiny versus choice, and how we cope when life doesn't go according to plan. If you're looking for something that will make you feel deeply and think critically about your own life choices, this is definitely worth reading.
