Let me start by saying this printer is a beast when it works. The 4-color multicolor printing is mind-blowing – I printed a rainbow dragon that made my nephew lose his mind. The colors pop, and the transitions are smooth thanks to that ACE Pro system constantly drying filaments (no more spaghetti disasters from damp PLA!).
Speed? Oh boy. At 600mm/s, it feels like watching a time-lapse in real life. Printed a benchy in under 12 minutes while my coffee was still hot. The auto-leveling is magic – after some initial bed adhesion struggles (pro tip: wipe with IPA between prints), it's been flawless for my last 50+ prints.
Now the not-so-great parts. That firmware? Hot garbage. Wastes filament like it's going out of style during color changes, and don't get me started on the z-offset amnesia – I've had to recalibrate more than I'd like. And that proprietary software? Switched to Orca Slicer immediately – night and day difference in reliability.
The ACE Pro unit itself is brilliant when it behaves. That built-in buffer saved me from at least three catastrophic clogs already. But the spool binding issues? Infuriating. Had to print aftermarket adapters just to use Anycubic's own filament properly – feels like they didn't beta test this with actual spools.
Would I recommend it? If you're tech-savvy and want multicolor on a budget, yes – but be ready to tinker. For plug-and-play simplicity, your money might be better spent elsewhere unless Anycubic addresses these firmware gremlins soon.
