I originally bought this door alarm for home security, but after stumbling upon some creative modding ideas, I decided to turn it into something even cooler - a paranormal investigation tool! The basic design is so simple that with a little soldering, I converted it into a motion sensor for our ghost hunting team.
The 120db alarm is seriously loud - we tested it in an abandoned house and nearly jumped out of our skins when it went off unexpectedly. That piercing sound would definitely scare away any intruders (or ghosts!). What surprised me most was how durable the ABS housing is - we've dropped it multiple times during investigations and it keeps working (unlike one reviewer's experience).
For normal home use, installation couldn't be easier. Just hang it on any door knob - no tools needed. I keep one unmodified unit on my toddler's bedroom door and it gives me peace of mind knowing I'll hear if she wanders at night. The battery life has been impressive too - still going strong after 3 months of both paranormal investigations and home security duty.
While the manufacturer markets it for hotels and offices, I've found way more creative uses. It's become my favorite multipurpose safety device - part burglar alarm, part baby monitor, part ghost detector! Just maybe don't modify yours unless you're comfortable with electronics tinkering.
