Okay, so I just finished 'In Five Years' and WOW. This wasn't at all what I expected when I picked up what looked like a cute romance novel.
The story follows Dannie, this super type-A lawyer who has her whole life planned out - dream job, perfect fiancé, the works. Then she has this crazy vision of her life five years in the future... with a completely different man. Mind blown!
What really got me was how this book made me question everything about fate and choices. Like, if you got a peek at your future, would it change how you live now? Deep stuff for something that starts with an engagement ring!
Fair warning - keep tissues handy! The friendship between Dannie and Bella had me ugly crying at 2am. It's rare to find a book that portrays female friendship with this much depth and realism.
Some parts were predictable (I totally called one twist early on), but the emotional payoff was worth it. And that ending? Did NOT see that coming! Still thinking about it days later.
Perfect for book clubs - there's so much to discuss about love, loss, and whether we're really in control of our destinies. Just don't go in expecting a light rom-com!
