Okay, so I’ve been using this SimCoach belly pad for a few weeks now, and wow—it’s way better than I expected! As someone who trains new nurses, this thing is a lifesaver. The vinyl material feels surprisingly realistic, and the backing pad actually stops needles from poking through (no accidental finger stabs during demos—thank goodness).
Seriously though, the detachable inner sponge is genius. We practice with real insulin pens, squeeze out the liquid afterward, and let it air-dry. No weird residue or funky smells. Plus, it self-heals pretty well after repeated jabs—way more durable than those flimsy foam pads we used before.
I will say: Don’t be fooled by the product photos. The pad is smaller than it looks (check those dimensions!). For larger patients, it takes some maneuvering to hold it steady while tenting the ‘skin.’ But hey, it still beats practicing on oranges (yes, we’ve all been there).
Bonus? My diabetic patients LOVE it for building confidence. One mom cried happy tears because her teen finally stopped panicking over self-injecting. If that’s not a 5-star review, I don’t know what is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
