Okay, so I finally caved and got the Kasa KS240 smart fan/light switch because my old setup was straight out of the Stone Age. Here's the tea:
First off - installation was shockingly easy? Like, I expected to curse at my circuit breaker for hours, but the app literally held my hand through the whole process. Though fair warning: if your wiring is a mess (like mine), prepare for some Tetris-level wire cramming into that junction box.
The GOOD:
- That smooth touch slider action? *chef's kiss* No more fumbling for tiny switches in the dark
- Works perfectly with my HomeKit obsession (though Alexa setup was moody)
- Being able to schedule my fan to turn on before I get home from work? Game changer
The NOT-SO-GOOD:
- Why are the LED indicators brighter than my future?? Had to turn them off completely in my bedroom
- The fan speed jumps from 'gentle breeze' to 'hurricane mode' between level 3 and 4
- Had one unit that REFUSED to pair until I moved it closer to the router like some WiFi diva
Final verdict? When it works, it's magic. When it glitches, I question all my smart home life choices. Still keeping it though - just hoping for a firmware update to fix those random disconnections!
