Okay, so I finally caved and bought this beautiful mahogany lyre harp after weeks of staring at it online. First impression? WOW. The wood grain is absolutely stunning and it smells like a musical forest (weird thing to notice, I know).
The package came with SO many goodies - extra strings (thank god), tuning wrench, picks, and this cute little cleaning cloth that I'll probably never use but appreciate anyway. The carrying case is legit sturdy - I've accidentally knocked it over twice already and my harp baby survived!
Tuning was... an adventure. Pro tip: don't be like me and try to tune all strings at once on day one. Let them settle! I may have snapped a string in my enthusiasm (good thing they include spares). After about a week though, it holds tune surprisingly well.
The sound? Absolutely ethereal. Like if angels decided to form a folk band. I've been playing it in my backyard at sunset and my neighbors keep complimenting the 'hauntingly beautiful music' (little do they know I'm just randomly plucking strings).
As someone who's only played guitar before, the learning curve isn't too bad. The engraved notes above each string are a lifesaver for beginners. Though fair warning - your fingers will hurt until you build up calluses!
Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a unique instrument that's portable enough to take anywhere but sounds professional enough for performances. Just... maybe watch some YouTube tuning tutorials first.
