I recently got my hands on this lightweight nylon art portfolio tote bag, and I have some thoughts to share. First off, the sleek black design is definitely professional-looking, which is great when you're carrying your artwork to meetings or classes.
The reinforced leather corners and double-stitched zippers initially impressed me - they seemed like they'd stand up to regular use. I particularly liked the adjustable shoulder strap option when I needed hands-free carrying around campus.
However, I ran into similar sizing issues as other reviewers. While advertised as 24x36, the top pocket's zipper only accommodates up to 34-3/4 inches wide. This was frustrating when trying to fit some of my larger pieces without bending them.
The separate compartments are useful for organization, but those internal connecting straps in the center pocket do limit what you can store there. I ended up using it mainly for smaller tools and supplies rather than artwork.
Durability concerns emerged quickly - just like another reviewer mentioned, my strap holder broke at the seam within a few weeks of regular use. For a bag meant to protect valuable artwork, this was disappointing.
On the positive side, it's genuinely lightweight and folds down nicely when not in use. The waterproof material gives peace of mind in unpredictable weather. But if you're carrying expensive or delicate pieces regularly, you might want something more heavy-duty.
