After months of daily use with my 85-inch Sony BRAVIA 9, I can confidently say this is the LED TV to beat. The Mini LED backlight delivers shockingly deep blacks - I actually had to double-check it wasn't an OLED during dark scenes in 'Dune'. Yet it gets blindingly bright when needed, making HDR content like nature documentaries truly pop.
The out-of-box calibration is impressively accurate (unlike most TVs), though videophiles will enjoy tweaking the pro-mode settings. My PS5 looks incredible - the XR processor makes 'Spider-Man 2's neon-lit cityscapes jump off the screen with perfect motion handling during web-swinging sequences.
Sound quality deserves special praise. The built-in speakers deliver shockingly good bass response - during 'Mad Max: Fury Road', I actually felt the rumble of engines without a soundbar. The auto room calibration works wonders; in my awkwardly shaped living room, dialogue remained crystal clear from any seating position.
Two minor gripes: The minimalist remote takes getting used to (though backlit buttons are genius), and at 98lbs, mounting this beast required three people and some creative cursing. Also, while most content looks phenomenal, standard cable broadcasts show the limitations of upscaling technology.
For movie buffs and gamers willing to invest, this delivers reference-level performance that makes OLED's brightness limitations apparent. Just be sure to check for firmware updates - early units had some bugs that Sony has largely addressed.
