Okay, so I finally got my hands on the Flambeau Lohman duck call after hearing all the hype. First impression? This thing looks LEGIT. The polycarbonate build feels sturdy enough to survive being dropped in a swamp (which, let's be real, will probably happen).
The sound? Oh man, when you get it right, it's like you've got a whole flock of mallards in your pocket. That raspy 'come hither' quack is *chef's kiss*. Even my dog looked confused thinking there was a duck in the house.
BUT... (there's always a but) mine came sounding like a duck with a chest cold. Way too deep and not fooling any actual ducks. Had to do some DIY reed trimming - which honestly took like 2 minutes and now it sounds perfect. Why didn't they just tune it right at the factory though?
For beginners: Super easy to use once you figure out which end to blow into (yes I made that mistake). For pros: The volume is insane - can probably call ducks from three counties over.
Final verdict? 4/5 stars. Would be 5 if it came ready-to-hunt out of the box. Still totally worth it though - just keep some scissors handy!
