Let me start by saying I had high hopes for this weather strip after reading some reviews. As a Tesla Model 3 owner, I'm always looking for ways to protect my baby from the elements.
The installation was... an adventure. Like other reviewers mentioned, the rubber strip is stubborn - it took me about 20 minutes just to thread it through while watching Netflix to keep my patience. Pro tip: wear rubber gloves and use soapy water as lubricant - it helps tremendously!
Once installed though? The fit is surprisingly precise. My hood closes with that satisfying Tesla 'thunk' and there's definitely less road noise at highway speeds. I can see how it would prevent leaves and debris from accumulating in those hard-to-reach areas.
However (and this is a big however), the adhesive situation is disappointing. After three days, one corner started peeling up during car wash. I ended up following another reviewer's advice and replaced all the tape with 3M automotive tape - problem solved.
The biggest win? During last week's heavy rainstorm, my frunk area stayed completely dry when before it would get minor water intrusion. For that alone, I think it's worth the installation hassle.
Would I buy again? Yes, but only if they improve the adhesive quality or include proper 3M tape in the package. Until then, be prepared to do some DIY upgrades to make this product work as intended.
