Just finished Night Road by Kristin Hannah and wow... my heart is still recovering. This book WRECKED me in the best possible way.
The story follows twins Mia and Zach, and their friend Lexi. At first it feels like a typical coming-of-age drama, but then BAM - tragedy strikes. Hannah has this insane ability to make you feel EVERYTHING the characters feel.
What really got me was how realistically she portrays grief. Not just sadness, but the messy, ugly, complicated parts of loss. There were moments I had to put the book down just to breathe.
Fair warning: keep tissues handy. I cried actual tears during several scenes (no spoilers!). But it's not all sadness - there's beautiful moments of love and resilience too.
If you enjoyed The Nightingale, this is very different but just as powerful. Perfect for when you want a book that makes you FEEL deeply. 5/5 stars from this emotional wreck!
