Okay, so I just finished Soul Harvest and WOW. As someone who grew up hearing about the Rapture but never really *got* it, this book made everything click in such a dramatic way.
The way Jenkins and LaHaye weave Bible prophecy into a modern thriller is wild. One minute you're reading about fighter jets over Israel, next thing you know there's a whole sermon tucked in there that actually makes sense? Genius.
What surprised me most was how invested I got in Buck and Chloe's relationship amid all the apocalyptic chaos. Like, global catastrophe happening but I'm over here stressing about their marriage? That's some good writing.
Fair warning though - this isn't some light beach read. I had to keep my phone nearby to Google certain Bible references (Revelation 12:7-9 who??). But honestly that made it more fascinating - half the time I couldn't tell what came straight from scripture versus the authors' imagination.
Minor complaint: The Nicolae Carpathia villain bit feels a tiny bit cartoonish at times? But then again, if you believe in the Antichrist as a real future figure... maybe that's exactly how terrifying he would be.
Finished it in three days and immediately ordered book five. These writers turned what could've been dry theology into something that kept me up reading past midnight. If you're at all curious about Christian end-times beliefs but want an entertaining way in - start here.
