Let me start by saying, Liane Moriarty has done it again! 'Here One Moment' is a gripping tale that hooks you from the very first page. The premise is unique—imagine being on a flight when a stranger stands up and predicts how and when each passenger will die. Chilling, right? But Moriarty's genius lies in how she turns this eerie scenario into a deeply human story.
The characters are so vividly drawn that you feel like you're sitting right next to them on that plane. Allegra, the flight attendant celebrating her birthday, is particularly relatable. The way Moriarty weaves together multiple storylines is masterful, though I’ll admit, keeping track of all the characters can be a bit challenging at times (especially if you're reading on Kindle).
What I loved most about this book is how it makes you ponder life’s big questions. Would you want to know your expiration date? How would it change the way you live? Some scenes had me laughing out loud, while others left me emotionally wrecked. It’s that perfect blend of wit and heartbreak that Moriarty is known for.
That said, the book isn’t without its flaws. While the premise is brilliant, some plot threads feel a tad superficial, and the ending, though satisfying, didn’t quite hit the emotional crescendo I was hoping for. Also, at over 500 pages, it could’ve been trimmed down a bit.
Despite these minor quibbles, 'Here One Moment' is a must-read. It’s the kind of book that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page—making you reflect on your own life choices and relationships. If you’re looking for a thought-provoking yet entertaining read, this one’s for you.
