Let me start by saying I had HIGH hopes for these placemats. The product photos make them look like luxurious, sustainable tableware - but reality hit hard when I unrolled my 'Christmas Jumper' set.
The good first: They do come in beautiful colors (mine were a lovely red/green knit pattern) and the cotton feels decently soft. I appreciated that they're biodegradable and machine washable - though at this price point, you'd expect that.
Now the not-so-good: These are THIN. Like, paper-towel thin. When I placed silverware on them during a test dinner, you could clearly see impressions through to my table. The 'luxurious feel' promised? More like premium Bounty paper towels with better marketing.
The roll format is clever for storage but annoying in practice - they don't lie flat easily and the perforated edges tear unevenly. After washing one (following instructions carefully), it shrank noticeably and developed pilling after just two uses.
Final verdict? If you want actual reusable placemats, keep looking. These might work for very casual picnics where looks don't matter, but for $25+ per roll? Hard pass from me. Two stars for the eco-friendly effort, but execution misses the mark completely.
