I grabbed this guide hoping it would be my golden ticket to getting Google Play on my Amazon Fire Tablet. Spoiler alert: it wasn't.
The biggest letdown? The instructions only cover up to the 10th generation tablets. Mine's an 11th gen, so right off the bat, I'm out of luck. The book doesn't mention this limitation upfront, which feels like a pretty big oversight.
I tried following the steps anyway, just to see. The Google Framework APK straight up refused to parse - it just wouldn't install no matter what I tried. The screenshots in the guide show different download options than what I'm seeing now, making me wonder if Google changed something since this was written.
Here's the real kicker: I actually had Google Play working on this same tablet before! After a factory reset, I can't get it back, and this guide wasn't any help. That's on me for not backing things up properly, but still - I really expected more from a 'definitive guide'.
If you've got a newer Fire Tablet (11th gen or later), save your money and look for more current instructions elsewhere. This one's outdated and doesn't deliver what it promises for modern devices.
